Chicken collage

Inspiration photo from a magazine cover...yes, this hen is a cover girl!

I started with a white canvas textured with red paint from a brayer and stencil.


After painting thick black and white paint with palette knife...and highlighting with turquoise, yellow, purple.

Adding some houndstooth black and white fabric for fun! While painting this, it seemed to call for a midcentury retro look....so the check was a good idea.....

Finally, a bit more collage on the canvas and paint on the chicken! and the red and white paper is reminiscent of a kitchen towel or table cloth....

One more photo, showing how the edges of canvas are finished using the last of the houndstooth and more red acrylic.
