Sunflower path and the seashore...

The inspiration photo.....from Catholic Relief Services

Working loosely and with Nadine Ripplemeyer's excellent teaching, I painted this one.....

16x20, acrylic and torn paper. Very sunny and joyful!

Then using a photo take by my daughter, I made a painting of my granddaughter seeing the ocean for the first time.....

In progress....

Finished, I think!

Richard Stephen's watercolor workshop --3 days to play!

My sister gave me a fabulous birthday present! Three days at a watercolor workshop with artist Richard Stephens .  We played and learned!
Above is the last exercise....we painted the same subject (of our choice) twice.  Once for a full hour, and then again for just 30 minutes.  The painting on the left was the first painting, and the one on the right was the second. I like them both and both will soon be for sale.

Richard works with lots of pigment and often very wet paper.  He is not timid or tenative.  He says that the fewer strokes and the fewer times you touch the paper , the better!  AND he uses his biggest brushes as long as possible!  His demonstrations are great!

So...here are my exercises from the 3 days......

Buy this one now with Pay Pal......just $75.00!

Back later with prices for those I decide to sell!

enjoying the sunny afternoon before the snow comes...

Life is good when I can paint....!!!! Ceramic birds are easy to pose! Also, easy to change in the painting if I want them to be a different color or even species! Why be limited by reality????

She's ready to dance!

Or should I say, as soon as I work out how to get those legs and feet in proportion with her arms and torso, she will just take off!
I had fun doing this and am blaming the diffuculty on not having a live model...being forced to use a photo with foreshortened legs and feet.
Still it was great fun and I love it.
